Royal’s personal message as she begins military training

Sweden’s future queen has taken a major step towards her time as eventual head of the royal family.
Crown Princess Victoria shared a personal message and photo as she officially began a new course with the country’s military.
The 47-year-old is now undertaking special officer training as part of preparations for her future role as head of state, the Swedish Royal Court said.

In April, the palace said the training would be done “to acquire a deeper understanding of tactics, military science and military strategy”, adding that the training includes both theory and practice.
In a new photo shared by the palace, the Crown Princess is dressed in military greens with a name badge.
She said that with “great anticipation” her military education Sweden’s Defence Academy has begun and that along with “the other cadets, I will, among other things, immerse myself in tactics, military science and military strategy”.
“My ambition is now to put all my energy into officer training in order to be able to represent Sweden and the Armed Forces in the best possible way in the future.
“I look forward to an interesting and rewarding study time together with my new course mates.”
The message was signed simply “Victoria”.
In March, Sweden joined the western military alliance NATO after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine forced it to rethink its national security policy.
Crown Princess Victoria is expected to take a step back from her royal duties while she undertakes the military training.
Crown Princess Victoria is heir to Sweden’s throne after her father, King Carl XVI Gustaf who is 78.
She and husband Prince Daniel, 50, have two children: Princess Estelle, 12, and Prince Oscar, eight.
